San Antonio is an extended 3 day conference, Friday August 9th Day 1 is the BON Required CE same as in the other cities, SA Day 2 has more pharmacology hours and EKG interpretation, and Day 3 is the same as Day 2 in the other cities focusing on Diabetes and Weight Loss pharmacology.

8:00-10:00 What’s Up With the Gut?

Abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, and GERD are common patient complaints. Conventional therapies target the symptoms but do not address the root causes. We will discuss root causes, symptom assessment, options for testing, and nutrition and lifestyle recommendations for suffering patients including the evidence based use of prebiotics and probiotics.

As our body processes oxygen, a natural byproduct is produced called free radicals.

Free radicals stimulate repair to our cells, help cleanse our blood, and fight off bacteria. 

However when there are too many free radicals, our repair process gets overwhelmed and this is called oxidative stress. 

Antioxidants to the rescue!
Did you know that our bodies have a built in mechanism for healing oxidative stress given the proper antioxidant rich nutrients? Antioxidants help to inhibit oxidation and lower free radicals!

Cruciferous vegetables are great oxidative stress busters. Cabbage, kale, bok choy, turnips, collard greens, broccoli, cauliflower and are cruciferous vegetables.

May 8, come learn about the stress busting power of cruciferous vegetables. We will talk about how to prepare them and of course, there will be delicious samples.

"Am I allowed to eat that?" How many times do I hear this as I work with patients and talk with family and friends. I love food! I love to cook food. I love to eat. I love to talk about food. I read recipe books like novels. It hurts my heart when I hear this question. Food can be powerful medicine, beautiful pleasure. It can also become poison. Our bodies are amazing in the way they report to us. Unfortunately, fast foods, highly processed foods, and sugary drinks have numbed us to the effects of foods. Many of my patients (including myself), use food to cope with stress and fatigue. With this pattern often comes the feelings of shame and guilt. We use food for comfort. We use food for escape. How can we best use food as nourishment?   

Let's party November 14! The holiday are coming with all sorts of treats. Of course we are allowed to eat anything. Yet, when you think of party foods do they have the nourishment that we are craving?  How about healthy, delicious treats that support what we are wanting for ourselves. This month, we will sample party foods. It will be our little secret. You don't have to tell the partiers your treats are actually nourishing them! We also have a new mindfulness practice to explore. I hope to see you there!

October 10, we will build on things we learned about the anti inflammatory diet. We will focus on adding leafy greens that everyone will love throughout the day. We will sample easy to carry, grab and go, healing lunchables as we envision whizzing past the fast food drive thru! We will continue to ask powerful questions and come up with simple and effective strategies to nourish our lives with a          healthy, sustainable, delicious diet. Hope to see you there!!

My goal during this first talk is to help my community reconnect to the joy of nourishment and untie ourselves from the negative emotions that often come with eating.  We will ask powerful questions and come up with simple and effective strategies to help. Hope to see you there!!
